The vacancy was posted on March 11, 2026, with applications open until April 24, 2026.

According to the job description, the role will focus on analyzing and optimizing the court’s translation technology environment, including translation memory systems, neural machine translation, and AI tools. The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying the best uses for AI and implementing AI tools in the Department, supporting prompt engineering, and helping integrate language technology into translators’ workflows.

Applicants are required to have at least five years of experience in language technology, including practical experience implementing translation tools in professional translation environments, and a university degree in translation technology, computational linguistics, translation, or a related field.

The court’s working languages are English and French, and the position requires advanced proficiency in one and intermediate proficiency in the other.

The position is funded as an established temporary post through December 2027.

The vacancy reflects the growing adoption of AI and language technology roles within international organizations.

Alongside the technologist position, the UN Careers portal currently lists several open calls for translators and interpreters.
