The Mandate

EC Innovations is a leading provider of language solutions based in Beijing, China, with a number of strategic global offices. Founded in 1997, the company serves a range of customer markets including life sciences, IT, manufacturing, finance, e-learning, travel, retail, legal, and e-commerce.

EC Innovations established a games division in 2014, focused on providing game localization for the APAC region, a market where it saw growth potential.

Slator’s Role

Seeking to strengthen its capabilities and expand geographically within language solutions, EC Innovations appointed Slator as its exclusive M&A buy-side advisor.

We ran a targeted acquisition search process and identified high-potential targets that aligned with our client’s strategic priorities.

As part of the mandate, we introduced our client to Character Localization, a Denmark-based company known for its translation and audio capabilities across entertainment and technology products including video games, apps, and podcasts.

The Outcome

EC Innovations and Character Localization completed the transaction successfully, and announced the acquisition in Q4 2022.
