Sector consolidation has reached the tech doc translation space. On February 11, 2016, Manchester-based Capita Translation and Interpreting (Capita TI) acquired London-based International Translation Resources (ITR), a technical translation company. The price of the acquisition was not disclosed.
Capita TI was created in late 2011 after parent company Capita Group plc acquired Applied Language Solutions and rebranded it as Capita TI. Parent company Capita plc employs more than 68,000 and generated revenues of over GBP 4.3bn (USD 6.2bn) in 2014.
According to regulatory filings, Capita TI reported revenues of GBP 31.3m (USD 45.3m) in 2014, an increase of almost 10% compared to the previous year. The company achieved a gross margin of roughly 30% and reported a profit of GBP 1.15m (USD 1.67m) in 2014.
