The deal comes less than a year after Propio announced in October 2024 the acquisition of three other language companies: Akorbi, ASL Services, and United Language Group, strengthening its position in industries including healthcare, education, and government, and in translation as a service line.
CyraCom, a remote interpreting provider specialized in healthcare as well as legal and public service industries, was founded more than 30 years ago. As Propio’s press release noted, CyraCom has become well-known for its “rigorous interpreter training.”
Slator 2024 Language Industry M&A and Funding Report
This 55-page report provides an in-depth analysis of mergers, acquisitions, and funding in the language services industry in 2024.
Propio CEO Marco Assis cited CyraCom’s “decades of remote-interpretation excellence” as a major factor in the acquisition.
“We believe healthcare will continue to be a fast growing vertical and will see client growth due to Propio’s offering,” Assis told Slator.
In addition to several locations in the continental US, CyraCom also has a presence in Puerto Rico and in Mexico. Chairman and CEO Jeremy Woan has held his post since January 2008.
Assis told Slator that CyraCom currently has more than 5,000 clients. “We will work to bring Propio’s technology and capabilities to their benefit,” Assis added.
Speaking at SlatorCon Silicon Valley 2024, Woan advised caution in applying AI speech translation at scale in a healthcare setting.
“If a healthcare provider decides to be non-compliant and use machine interpretation, that’s their decision and their risk,” Woan said. “What might, at first, seem a low-risk situation could easily become higher risk very quickly.”
Assis also implied the need for a (human) expert-in-the-loop, telling Slator that Propio believes AI is “a great way to increase efficiency and augment human work where possible to the benefit of our clients.”

Some of Propio’s current technological tools include the Propio ONE app for interpreting, Propio Workforce OS for resource service coordination in healthcare, and AI translation solutions, in addition to several new products.
While Assis declined to share financial details related to the acquisition, he said that based on 2024 figures, the (pro-forma) annual revenue of the combined revenue is around USD 530m (per Slator’s 2025 LSPI, USD 330.9m for Propio and USD 201.9m for CyraCom), “but similarly to prior years both organizations will deliver growth in 2025.”
The US regulatory landscape “remains challenging with uncertainties in respect to future policies,” Assis acknowledged. “We are confident in the importance of the interpreting and translation industry, but also recognize the importance of focusing on what we control.”
