Gabriel Fairman is a thought leader and entrepreneur specializing in localization and business process automation. He has navigated Bureau Works from a Boutique Translation Agency to a Global Localization Platform/Translation Management System. A speaker of six languages, Gabriel grew up speaking American English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Argentinian Spanish. He then picked up a bit of French, Italian, and Mandarin. Gabriel writes about the first-hand experience of a business leader, entrepreneur, father, and human being. He loves to play the guitar, cook, play tennis, and be in nature in any way or shape.

Esther spent several years in France and Luxembourg for work and study, and has since returned to her native London. She has a strong languages background, having studied for degrees in French & Linguistics and Translation & Interpreting. She went on to pursue a career in the Language Services industry, where she gained PM, technology and management experience before joining the Slator team.

Florian Faes is the Managing Director of Slator, the leading source of research and market intelligence for translation, localization, interpreting, and language AI. Ben joined RWS as CEO Designate in December 2024 and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and a Director of RWS on 6 January 2025. He brings extensive expertise in leveraging technology to transform businesses, driving profitable organic growth and developing new revenue streams through innovative go-to-market strategies.

A highly experienced business leader, Ben has spent more than 25 years in digital transformation and leadership roles across the technology and media sectors, creating and leading international teams in sales, partnerships and marketing.

Prior to joining RWS Ben spent eight years with AOL, culminating in the role of Managing Director for France. In 2008, Ben then joined Alphabet, where he pioneered the monetization of YouTube across Europe. He was subsequently appointed to a series of leadership roles for Google in the EMEA region before becoming Managing Director of Google Cloud for Southern Europe and Emerging Markets. In 2021, Ben became UK CEO of Webhelp, a global customer experience management company. Most recently, following the acquisition of Webhelp by Concentrix in 2023, Ben led the transformation and technology team at Concentrix Catalyst.

In his spare time, Ben enjoys exploring museums, art exhibitions, theatre, and dance shows, embracing the richness of London’s cultural life.

Ignacio Monereo is a Partner at Boost Capital, where he leads deal origination, fund positioning, and operations, with a focus on investments in Media, Entertainment, B2B SaaS, and AI. Prior to joining Boost, Ignacio spent over a decade in senior roles at Google and Meta, where he led Creator Programs for EMEA at Meta and managed key Android developers across Western Europe at Google Play. With 5+ years of investing experience in Media and Entertainment, he has a strong track record as an angel investor, mentor, and board member for several high-growth companies.

Simone Cremonini is an investor and executive with over 20 years of experience in digital, media, communications, and technology. He is currently Equity Partner and Executive Director at Alkemia Capital, focusing on venture capital and tech-driven investments. He has led growth, turnaround, and M&A initiatives, including the sale of the biggest independent Italian digital consultancy firm to Capgemini.

Simone sits on the boards of several innovative startups, including Contents.com, a Generative AI platform for scalable digital content creation. He brings deep expertise in business development, strategy, and digital transformation. Simone is passionate about the intersection of AI, creativity, and business impact.

Clémentine joined RS Group as Head of Product Localization. Based in London, she started her career in Localization on the agency side for seven years, specializing in retail/ecommerce, before transitioning to the buy-side. She worked as Localization Manager for an iGaming company for six years, deepening her knowledge of the essential business requirements to develop an effective centralized localization program while discovering a new industry. Since she started at RS in September, she has found it very stimulating to grow localization awareness and implement her knowledge on a bigger scale.

Alex has 10+ years experience in the Translation and Localization industry, primarily in pre-sales functions (bid management and consultancy), with roles such as Solution Architect, Team Lead – Bid Management, Project and Production Manager.

Georg Ell is the CEO of Phrase, a global leader in localization technology with over 300 employees and prestigious clients such as Uber, Shopify, Zendesk, and Deliveroo. Backed by The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm, Phrase thrives under Georg’s extensive experience in the tech industry. With over 17 years of leadership experience, Georg has held significant roles, including CEO of Smoothwall, an education safety-tech business that gained recognition as a Top 100 UK employer under his tenure. He also served as Director for Western Europe at Tesla, leading a team of over 330 people to promote sustainable energy adoption.

Before Tesla, Georg was General Manager for EMEA at Yammer, where he facilitated substantial growth and the company’s acquisition by Microsoft for $1.2 billion. Georg’s career began at Microsoft, where he was a pioneering salesperson for the company’s enterprise cloud business in Europe. In addition to his role at Phrase, Georg is a Venture Partner at LocalGlobe and Craft Ventures, and an Advisory Board Member at EQL. He holds a degree in Political Science and Management Studies from St. John’s College, Cambridge.

Russell has worked across a range of sectors, from FinTech to Cyber Security, and now within the language services market. The red thread between these roles is the passion to grow and scale businesses with a clear strategy, accelerated by a combination of organic innovation and acquisitions.

Over the last two decades, he has been fortunate enough to work for some great companies – from listed multinationals to private medium-sized businesses. Those experiences have helped him to develop deep P&L, operational, commercial, financial, and strategic skills.

Born in Cheshire, UK, Russell has lived and worked in four continents – Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Each one has given him a different perspective, developing a cultural empathy and respect for what makes us all different.

He has a keen interest in technologies that have the potential to transform how we work – and has written a book with Forbes on Digital Transformation. As a father of two teenage boys, he is also a strong advocate of internet safety and has supported multiple charities to tackle this challenge.

Outside of work, Russell enjoys mountain biking and golf, yet spends most weekends doing neither, as he’s also quite handy at driving his boys to sports matches.

Iara Altkorn is a PMI-certified Program Manager with specialized expertise in Localization. With over 15 years of experience spanning technology, linguistics, marketing, editorial, and localization, she began her career in translation and conference interpreting. Over the years, she has held roles on both the client and vendor sides, working as a translator and program manager. She currently serves as Operations Lead at Braze, where she designs workflows, optimizes processes, and implements innovative technology solutions to support global expansion.

Rich works with Sanity’s enterprise customers helping shape strategic and scalable content management solutions.

With almost a decade specialising in the composable/headless CMS space, Rich has worked with organisations including Puma, Unilever and Co-op as they modernise and adopt new technologies and ways of working.

Claire Pages is the Localisation Lead at Wise PLC, based out of their London office. As such, she manages the Localisation team and function at Wise and has been in this role for 2 years. Claire started her career in the Localisation industry on the vendor side at what used to be SDL International for nearly 9 years, before moving on to Expedia, where she was Director of Localization Programs and Tech, or more recently to Talkwalker where she founded the Localisation team from the ground up. The challenges in those various roles have been varied, but always revolved around the optimisation of resourcing, quality and costs via the right mix of people, tools and workflows.

Dr Julia Schwarz is Teaching Associate in Psychology and Affiliated Lecturer in Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, and Director of Studies at Jesus college, Cambridge. Prior to her current roles, Dr Schwarz was a consultant for business and funding advisory and completed a doctorate at the University of Cambridge. She specializes in experimental research on language and cognition using behavioural and neuroimaging data, and is known for her work on word processing, face mask speech, and developmental dyslexia. Her expanding research programme on the neural decoding of speech grapples with the question of how prosodic information contributes to language comprehension.

She is currently Principle Investigator of the collaborative project Neural encoding of AI-generated speech prosody by L1 and L2 speakers (ProsodAI), which seeks to unravel how listeners judge and process prosodic features in human speech vs. AI voice clones, particularly among second language learners.

Dr. Steinbiss is the Managing Director of AppTek GmbH. His substantial experience in human language technology goes back to the late 1980s when he helped pioneering large-vocabulary continuous-speech recognition at Philips Research. In the 90s, he was instrumental in Philips creating three worldwide first speech recognition products: name dialing on the handheld cell phone SPARK; the professional 20,000 word continuous-speech radiology dictation system SP6000; and the Philips mixed-initiative telephone-network-based train inquiry system.

Mr. Steinbiss next became interested in statistical machine translation in the 1990s, and later in speech translation. As a staff member of RWTH Aachen University, he managed a project within the 200+MEUR French-German Quaero program (2008-2013). With his company Accipio Projects GmbH, he was the coordinator of the speech translation project EU-BRIDGE (2012-2015), at the time the largest EU-funded integrated project in human language technology.

Mr. Steinbiss holds a degree in mathematics and a PhD from Göttingen University and was a scholarship holder of the German National Merit Foundation and of the French Government.

Florian Lux is a Speech Technology Scientist at AppTek GmbH. He is an active researcher with many recent publications on speech synthesis, voice privacy and deepfake detection at all major speech technology conferences. During his nearly ten years of experience in machine learning, he has also been very active in the open-source community, developing a speech synthesis toolkit with over a quarter of a million users to date. Recently he has joined AppTek’s text-to-speech team, bringing his experience in multilingual and controllable speech synthesis to a state-of-the-art product.

Florian holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Stuttgart.

Silvia Terribile is a Research & Community Specialist at Slator, where she contributes to Slator conferences, events, and research coverage on language AI. She holds a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Manchester, where she investigated productivity in the post-editing of neural machine translation in partnership with Toppan Digital Language. She has been teaching translation technologies at the Universities of Sheffield, Manchester, and Roehampton. She has previously worked on localization at Hogarth Worldwide and Turner Broadcasting System

Bertrand Gstalder is the Group CEO of Acolad, a global leader in content and language solutions. With over 25 years of experience in scaling digital businesses, he has successfully led companies through major technology shifts in industries including real estate, e-commerce, and media. Prior to Acolad, Bertrand was the CEO of SeLoger Group, France’s top online real estate marketplace, and previously led the e-commerce division at Fnac. Passionate about AI, innovation, and digital transformation, he brings a results-driven approach to managing change at scale.

Jane is a Strategic Advisor for Ollang, the first Agentic AI Translation company with its headquarters in SF, California.
She has over 20 years in leading solutions in artificial intelligence and language, prior to working in healthcare and fintech.

As COO of Veuu, Jane is managing the operations of an AI company that provides a first-to-market payments solution to hospitals, healthcare systems and physician practices to manage cashflow and mitigate risk between the payers and providers.

Jane is also Adjunct Professor for the graduate program at the Middlebury Institute in Monterey, California.

Jane pivoted from localization in 2016 to start a new AI Data business “Lionbridge AI” that grew to $200M in revenue in approx. 3 years. That value lead to the sale of her business unit to Telus International for approx. $1B. As the Managing Director of AI, she led all aspects of the business including, sales, operations, technology, HR, finance, marketing, employment, and recruitment. Jane and her team built a workforce of over 1 million workers in 450 locales establishing high functioning teams and developing key talent into successful executives across the globe in US, Finland, Ireland, Spain, France, India, China and Japan.

Jane was nearly 10 years at Moravia, an RWS company, and acted as Chief Sales Officer & EVP of Global Programs at Moravia, delivering product localization, global digital marketing, and testing services to the world’s top brands, where she doubled Moravia’s total revenue in her first year as CSO. Having created a $100+ million pipeline that measured the highest organic growth in the localization industry, Jane was responsible for the company-wide vision, sales and marketing, as well as the operational program structure, implementing change management reorganization across Moravia. As acting Managing Director for US and Argentina, Jane designed and drove Moravia’s managed services offering, restructured their life sciences division, and created a diversified portfolio for the company.

With a background in building innovative organisations, Sally is dedicated to making a difference within the Deaf Community. Sally’s passion lies in creating human-centred, inclusive digital services and products that positively impact communities.

At Signapse, Sally leads a team of diverse individuals, including Deaf entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders, to scale Artificial Intelligence for global sign language accessibility. Her role involves orchestrating the organisation’s journey from inception to launch and beyond.

Anna is a language services industry professional with expertise in project management, management and quality systems, and a special interest in the life sciences sector. Starting her career in data annotation in Sydney, she then gained 10 years’ experience in London and Madrid with major LSPs before joining Slator as a research contributor. Anna is today Slator’s Head of Research. She holds a B.A. (Hons) in Linguistics from the University of Sydney.
