Aglatech14 New Managing Director (October 2024)

Italian-based language services provider (LSP) Aglatech14 announced the appointment of Anna Puleo to the post of Managing Director. Puleo’s transition began in April 2024, after the passing of Founder and long-time CEO, Giacomo Grassi.

Puleo joined Aglatech14 in 2020 as a Business Controller. Reflecting on her decision to join the company back then, she told Slator that she “saw the possibility of helping the company navigate the uncertainties of the pandemic while laying the groundwork for its future growth.” She added that since that time her role has evolved significantly.

The new CEO also spearheads an ambitious expansion strategy that includes steering Aglatech14 for expansion beyond its core competencies in regulated industries and patent translation. The latter earned the ISO-certified company a contract with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

“We are actively exploring partnerships and potential acquisitions in line with our strategic objectives, and we do not rule out the international market,” added Puleo. “Our expansion strategy, therefore, involves leveraging our current strengths in patent translation and pursuing growth opportunities that allow us to evolve into a more diversified and global language services provider.”

Regulated Industries and Technology

Puleo’s background is primarily in the administrative and financial sectors, and she worked for many years as an executive in the medical devices industry before joining Aglatech14. The language services sector was new to her, she explained, but she found her technical and operational expertise to be highly transferable and critical to her role.

To a question about how she sees the connection between the company’s expertise in regulated industries and today’s language technology, Puleo answered that advanced language technology plays a crucial role in supporting both quality and efficiency at the company.

Puleo named Aglatech14’s tools of choice as AI-based translation tools, machine translation (MT) with post-editing, and semi-automated translation project management systems, among others.

Regarding the company’s general direction under her leadership, Puleo expressed that “our shared goal is to solidify Aglatech14’s success as a well-structured SME with a modern approach … We remain committed to values such as sustainability, gender equality, and inclusivity, which we strongly believe in.”
