Powerling Buys WCS Group Out of Bankruptcy

Shortly after reporting WCS Group had filed for bankruptcy, French language services provider (LSP) Powerling informed Slator it had acquired the assets of the troubled group.

According to Anette Van de Loo, Powerling’s Co-founder and COO, Powerling “just finalized the acquisition of all entities of the WCS Group (Duo Vertaalburo, Wilkens, Crosslang, Data Concept Technology, Vertaalbureau L&L, Bothof & Business Translation Services B.V).”

Van de Loo mentioned that “being a major actor in the Netherlands has always been part of Powerling history. We’ve always been admirative of the quality of the work performed by the WCS team and we are delighted to preserve this legacy.”

Regarding the strategy behind the acquisition, the COO said that “the opportunity of taking over WCS Group was 100% aligned with our strategy. Powerling’s ambition is to reach over EUR 25m revenue by the end of 2024.” She added that growth will be driven by both organic growth and acquisitions in Powerling’s main markets: North America (USA and Canada), France, and BeNeLux.

Powerling has been in business since 1998 and has a presence in France, The Netherlands, Hong Kong, and the US. Some of the services the company is known for revolve around content creation, audiovisual, data collection, and LLM development.

Powerling expects that the added expertise of the WCS entities will solidify its position in various fields, including marketing, medical, and technical content, as well as content management through Data Concept Technology B.V.

Asked whether Powerling will take on the liabilities and open invoices of the WCS Group Companies, Van de Loo said that “Powerling is starting a new fresh chapter in BeNeLUx.” The purchase price was not disclosed.
