The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is recruiting for two roles in its Language Services Division, covering translation operations and the technology supporting them.

The first position, Section Chief (Language Services), sits within the Fund’s Corporate Services and Facilities Department. The role focuses on managing the French Section, which provides translation and related services primarily from English, as well as from Spanish and Portuguese.

The Section Chief is responsible for planning and coordinating the Section’s activities — including translation, revision, proofreading, and editing work — as well as supervising staff, assigning work, and ensuring quality control.

The role also includes recruiting staff and freelance translators, liaising with internal stakeholders, and evaluating current language tools and future language technology and training needs.

The IMF requires candidates to have an advanced university degree or equivalent in translation, linguistics, economics, or a related field, along with significant professional experience. Native-level French and strong proficiency in English are required, along with experience using language technology.

The second role, Platform Owner / Senior Platform Owner (Language Services), is based in the IMF’s IT Department and supports the applications and tools used by the Language Services Division.

The position involves managing these systems, including upgrades and integrations, while overseeing contractors and vendors. Responsibilities include developing platform strategies and roadmaps, managing resources and budgets, coordinating with internal IT teams, and translating business requirements into technical specifications.

The job description specifies experience with language technology, including AI translation tools. It also highlights familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and cloud-based services as part of the technical environment supporting language services.

Candidates are expected to have an advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with several years of professional experience in platform ownership or technical leadership and exposure to language technology.

Applications for the Platform Owner role close on May 7, 2026, while applications for the Section Chief role close on May 14, 2026.

Together, the two roles reflect the IMF’s ongoing investment in both the operational management of multilingual content and the underlying technology infrastructure used to support language services.
