The Coventry City Council Procurement Team may have reflected on the pitfalls of single-vendor translation and interpretation contracts in the UK when selecting language service suppliers. If selecting only one vendor creates such a mess, maybe contracting out to as many suppliers as possible might do the trick.
So the Coventry City Council recently awarded a contract to 12 suppliers for its language service requirements as well as those of Warwickshire County Council. Total contract value, GBP 1.08m. The contract encompasses various local authority services, health services, court documents, technical manuals, forms, letters, reports, posters, websites, and more.
Awarded were the following: AA Global Language Services Ltd, BID Services, DA Languages Ltd, Global Translation Services Ltd, ITL (North East) Limited, Language Empire Ltd, LanguageLine Solutions, Oncall Interpreters, Pearl Linguistics Ltd, Premium Language Services Provider Ltd, Supreme Linguistic Services Ltd T/A Premium Linguistic Service, and The Language Room.
